The Ohio State University

Omar attended The Ohio State University from 2005 - 2006, studying Political Science and Chinese.  He decided during his sophomore year that he would become an active service member and serve our country overseas.  After Omar's passing, his friends that attended Ohio State were kind enough to invite us to campus for a memorial service in his honor.

After connecting with fellow ROTC cadets, Omar is now honored in Remembrance Park on campus with his name engraved on the Battelle Walls of Honor and Remembrance.  In early spring of 2015, the Ohio State Office of Student Life gave us that Omar was selected by the school's Board of Committee to have a housing unit named after him.  On August 22, 2015, Omar's anniversary, we were able to go to Ohio and visit the campus and witness the move-in of 532 Ohio State students into their brand new housing building named after our hero.

On November 4, 2016, we were invited to the North Residential District Celebration to honor our hero as well as the other service members who are Ohio State alumni that have housing units named after them. After the celebration, we were able to visit campus and see the new North Residential District where Torres House is located and witness the positive impact on Ohio State's students.
